SSDC07 – Nala, Ukhimath, Rudraprayag

Nestled in the scenic region of Vikaskhand-Ukhimath, Village Nala is home to individuals with immense potential, determination, and aspirations for a better future. However, despite their willingness to learn and grow, many community members—particularly women and youth—had limited access to structured skill development opportunities. The absence of vocational training platforms often restricted their ability to enhance their capabilities, pursue sustainable livelihoods, and achieve greater economic independence. This highlighted the need for a dedicated initiative that could transform potential into opportunity and empower individuals to build a more secure and self-reliant future.

Recognizing that skill development is a powerful pathway to empowerment, livelihood generation, and long-term community progress, the Samoon Foundation established SSDC-07 (Samoon Skills Development Centre-07) in Village Nala, Vikaskhand-Ukhimath, District Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. Inaugurated on 13 January 2024, the centre was launched as a focused initiative to equip local residents with practical skills and greater confidence for the future. Under the guidance of Centre Trainer Sakshi, with support from Programme Coordinator Vipin Semwal and Gram Pradhan Kalpeshwari Devi, participants received hands-on training designed to strengthen their abilities, improve their livelihood prospects, and encourage self-reliance. The training phase was successfully completed on 13 May 2024.

The initiative directly benefited 30 women, equipping them with valuable skills and practical knowledge to improve their livelihood opportunities. Through the training, beneficiaries gained greater confidence, improved their capabilities, and developed a stronger sense of self-reliance. The programme also encouraged active participation in personal, social, and economic development.

SSDC-07 emerged as a centre of opportunity and empowerment for the people of Village Nala. By providing access to skill development and capacity-building programmes, the initiative helped participants unlock their potential and move towards a more confident and independent future. The successful implementation of the project reflects the Samoon Foundation’s continued commitment to strengthening rural communities and creating sustainable pathways for growth and development across Uttarakhand.
