Access to vocational education remained a challenge for many women and youth in Augustmuni, Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, limiting their ability to develop practical skills and secure sustainable livelihood opportunities. Without structured training and guidance, many aspiring individuals were unable to realize their potential, resulting in fewer opportunities for financial independence, women empowerment, and community participation.

In response to this need, Samoon Foundation established SSDC-10 (Samoon Skill Development Centre-10) at Dayal Sant Kutiya, Vasant Vihar, Augustmuni, Rudraprayag on 21 May 2024. The centre was inaugurated to provide vocational and technical training that combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical learning. Under the guidance of Centre Trainer Ms. Madhuri Negi, the coordination of Ms. Chandra Negi and Programme coordinator Mr. Vikram Shah participants received structured training, personalized mentorship, and continuous support to strengthen their professional skills, confidence, and self-reliance. The training phase was successfully completed on 21 September 2024.

The initiative is currently benefiting 40 women and girls, providing them with industry-relevant skills and practical experience to improve their employability and livelihood opportunities. Through continuous learning and guidance, participants are developing greater confidence, financial awareness, and the ability to pursue employment or self-employment while contributing positively to their families and communities.

As an ongoing initiative, SSDC-10 continues to create meaningful opportunities for skill development, women empowerment, and economic self-reliance in Augustmuni. By nurturing local talent and promoting practical learning, the centre is helping build a stronger, more confident, and self-sufficient community while contributing to sustainable rural development.
