The women of Purwal Goan, Patti-Hindaw, Tehri Garhwal possessed the determination and potential to improve their lives and support their families. However, limited access to skill development opportunities often restricted their chances of achieving economic independence and personal growth. Despite their willingness to learn and contribute, the absence of structured vocational training made it difficult for many women to develop practical skills and explore sustainable livelihood opportunities. This created a need for an initiative focused on women empowerment, self-reliance, and skill enhancement.
To address this need, the Samoon Foundation established SSDC-05 (Samoon Skills Development Centre-05) in Purwal Goan, Patti-Hindaw, Tehri Garhwal. Inaugurated on 10 April 2023, the centre focused on empowering women through vocational training and capacity-building programmes. Under the guidance of Centre Trainer Vineeta Devi, with support from Programme Coordinator Vikram Shah and Gram Pradhan Sanjay Tiwari, participants received practical training designed to enhance their skills, confidence, and livelihood prospects. The project successfully completed its phase on 10 September 2023.
The initiative benefited 50 women, equipping them with valuable skills, greater confidence, and improved opportunities for personal and economic growth. The training encouraged self-reliance and enabled participants to play a more active role in supporting their families and contributing to their communities.
The project marked an important step towards women empowerment and community development in Purwal Goan. By providing opportunities for learning and skill enhancement, the initiative helped women unlock their potential and build a more confident and independent future. The successful implementation of SSDC-05 reflected the Samoon Foundation’s commitment to creating sustainable opportunities and bringing positive change to rural communities.
