The lack of accessible skill development opportunities continued to limit the economic independence of women in the remote villages of Bhilangana Block. Women and young girls residing in Patti Hindaw, Chaanji Main Market (Post Office Kholi, Hadiyana Malla), Tehri Garhwal, along with neighboring Gram Panchayats including Chaanji Talli, Chaanji Malla, Ganwadi, Kathud, Hadiyana Talla, and Bhona, had limited access to vocational training and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Without a nearby training facility, many aspiring women were unable to acquire practical skills that could help them secure employment or establish self-employment ventures. This lack of opportunities restricted their financial independence and slowed the socio-economic development of rural families.

Taking another significant step towards women’s empowerment and rural livelihood development, Samoon Foundation established the SSDC-16 (Samoon Skill Development Centre-16). The center was inaugurated on 22 June 2026 at Patti Hindaw, Chaanji Main Market, Bhilangana Block, Tehri Garhwal in the presence of Chief Guest Mrs. Pinki Devi (Area Panchayat Member), Mrs. Archana Devi (Gram Pradhan, Chaanji Talli & Centre Trainer), Mr. Gaurav Singh Rawat (Gram Pradhan, Chaanji Malla), Mr. Vikram Ghanata (District Panchayat Member & Programme Coordinator), and Mr. Vikram Shah (Samoon Foundation Representative). The centre currently provides stitching and tailoring training to 10 women beneficiaries from nearby villages, enabling them to develop livelihood skills and become self-reliant.

SSDC-16 has created new opportunities for skill development and economic empowerment in the region. The centre is successfully training 10 women, helping them acquire practical tailoring skills for self-employment and income generation. The initiative has been widely appreciated by local residents and public representatives and is contributing to women’s empowerment and rural development across the surrounding villages.

SSDC-16 reflects Samoon Foundation’s continued mission of empowering rural women through skill development and self-reliance. The support of community leaders and local residents, the centre is creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for women. Samoon Foundation remains committed to expanding similar initiatives and building a stronger, more self-reliant rural Uttarakhand.
