In the quiet hills of Kordi Village, Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, opportunities for women to learn practical, income-generating skills were limited. With no nearby structured training programmes, many women were unable to access skill development in areas like sewing and tailoring, restricting their chances for financial independence and personal growth.

Committed to creating sustainable opportunities for women through skill-based education, Samoon Foundation established SSDC-14 (Samoon Skill Development Centre-14) in Kordi Village, Tehri Garhwal, which was inaugurated on 01 June 2025. Under the guidance of Centre Trainer Ms. Usha Devi and Programme Coordinator Mr. Vikram Shah, the centre introduced free training in sewing and tailoring using modern sewing machines. The initiative received valuable support from Mr. Ramesh Inder Datt Naithani, whose contribution played an important role in establishing the centre. The training programme was successfully completed on 10 October 2025, providing women with practical skills, confidence, and opportunities for self-reliance.

The programme successfully benefited 15 women, equipping them with practical sewing and tailoring skills while strengthening their confidence and financial independence. Through hands-on learning and continuous skill development, participants gained the capabilities needed to pursue self-employment, support their families, and contribute more actively to the economic development of their community.

With the successful completion of SSDC-14, Samoon Foundation concluded another impactful initiative dedicated to promoting women empowerment and sustainable rural development in Kordi Village. By equipping 15 women with practical vocational skills and enhancing their confidence, the programme created lasting opportunities for self-reliance and livelihood generation. The initiative reflects the Foundation’s continued commitment to strengthening rural communities through accessible skill development and economic empowerment.
